How to connect a CLI

The gateway speaks two protocols. Use the one that your tool needs.

This works with opencode, aider, Codex and other OpenAI-compatible tools.

The gateway answers /v1/messages in the Anthropic format. A test on 20 August 2026 returned a correct Anthropic response from a DeepSeek model.

Do not do this for your own Claude Code.Your Claude Code uses the Max subscription. The subscription has a fixed price. The gateway charges for each token instead. You pay two times for the same work.

ADR-0001 for this server says: use the subscription, do not use API keys. Use the gateway for Claude Code in one case only. The case is a colleague who needs CLI access with a cost limit. The colleague does not get your Anthropic login.

Model names

Give the full name of the model.

A name with openrouter/ in front goes to OpenRouter. OpenRouter charges for each request. The friends team and the coworkers team cannot use those names.
