Herman gives you the key. He uses the Access Manager on his computer.

For Herman: how to give a key

1

Open the Access Manager

Run tools/access-manager.ps1.
2

Find the person

Look for the row with that person’s name.
3

Tick the LLM box

A window opens and shows the key.
4

Copy the key and send it

The window shows the key one time only.
The server keeps a hash of the key. Nobody can read the key again. Copy the key before you close the window.

The box does not make a new key

A tick does nothing if the person already holds a key. The window does not open. This is correct behaviour.
Before 20 August 2026 a tick made a new key each time. This stopped every browser and every CLI that held the old key. The person saw an error, but the person did no wrong action.
To make a new key:
1

Untick the box

This deletes the key. The person loses access at once.
2

Tick the box again

This makes a new key.
Tell the person first. The old key stops at step 1.

To cancel access

Untick the LLM box. The key stops at once. The other keys do not change.

Who can hold a key

A name that is not in this list gets no key. The script refuses.
A wrong name is more often a spelling mistake than a person. A refusal shows the mistake at once. To add a person, edit PEOPLE in tools/llm-grant.py.
